Honor Code Policy:
Academic dishonesty is inexcusable conduct, and will not be tolerated. Students at Jackson County High School are expected to submit work for evaluation that has been completed solely by that student, unless group assignments have been so designated. Students are expected to maintain academic integrity at all times. A student who chooses to cheat will receive a zero for the assignment, the teacher will contact the parents, and the student will be referred to the administration. For first time offenders, teachers will work with the student to establish a timeline to make-up / retake the assignment; however, the highest grade they will be able to receive will be a 70. For any subsequent cheating infractions, a zero will be received for the assignment without the option to resubmit. The JCCHS Academic Honesty Policy in its entirety is available in the student handbook. Copying answers or explanations from another student’s paper whether or not it is for a grade is considered cheating!
Attendance Excused Absence / Late Policy:
Students are expected in class every day. Students who are granted Excused Absent status for days missed will be subject to the following:
- All pre-assigned work will be due on the day of a student’s return from an absence.
- For assignments which did not have a pre-assigned due date during the time of the student’s absence, students will be given five days to arrange for make-up work or follow other arrangements granted by the teacher. The missing and late work policy of the classroom will follow the JCCHS guidelines in the Student Handbook.
- Late work: If a deadline is missed, the maximum possible points that can be earned will be a 70%. After one week after the unit test in which the assignment was given -the late work for that unit will no longer be accepted. Please review your handbook.
upon returning to school, it is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements Within 5 days to make up work.
Classroom Procedures:
1. Be in your seat and get started on your starter when the bell rings. If you are standing when the bell rings, you will be counted tardy.
2. Pay attention, be alert, and follow directions the first time they are given!
3. Be RESPECTFUL at all times to the instructor and your classmates!
4. Follow all school and classroom procedures.
5. Turn in all work on time.
Cell Phone Policy:
Cell phones will not be allowed during class time EXCEPT when using them with teacher permission for instructional research purposes. There will be a station “Parking lot” by the front door where you may plug in your cell phones to charge. The policy will be if you plug it in you will not be allowed to get it again until the end of class. Charging can only be done at the designated location in the lab (not the lab tables unless you are using it as a tool in the lab – with pre-approval from the teacher). If the teacher observes your cell phone when you are not allowed to be using it, without talking or interrupting the class, you should place it on the teacher’s desk. The phone may be picked up AFTER the school’s dismissal bell. You may opt to keep your phone and place it in your backpack or out of site and take an hour detention on the first offense. The second offense will result in a 30 minute teacher detention and parent call. On the third offense you will receive a referral. The fourth offense we will have a parent and administrative conference where you will be asked to refrain from bringing the phone into the classroom.
Parents, by initialing below, you understand and agree with these statements…
________BYOT – Students may use their computers and tablets in class; however, inappropriate use will result in confiscation of the device. Multiple offenses will result in a loss of BYOT rights.

Cell phones will be confiscated if a student misuses them or uses them at inappropriate times. Texting, calling, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, and anything not narrowly tailored to the assignment will be considered misuse.
______ Students agree not to charge their phones at the lab stations. A charging station will be provided. If they choose to charge their phone - students assume all responsibility for leaving a phone unattended. This includes being knocked, dropped, broken, stolen, etc.… Security and protection are not offered. A power source to help their phones stay charged for after school activities or as a tool in the lab is provided.
______Students understand if they charge their phone at this station, they are not allowed to return to the station while instruction is occurring. It should be charging at the beginning and left until the bell rings.
______ Instruction and conversations during class time may not be recorded unless permission is asked in advance. Photographs may be taken with student and teacher permission.
_______ Students may opt to keep their phone instead of turning it into the teacher’s desk. However, the penalty will be an hour detention teacher detention or referral if student does not show the first time for the detention.

A warning will be given for the first offense and parent call and detention will be served for the 2nd offense and habitual offenders will not be allowed into labs. By initialing, you understand these rules.
________ LAB EQUIPMENT – Any item in the classroom that the student does not bring to class is off limits unless the teacher instructs the students to touch or utilize. Many drawers and cabinets do not lock in the lab stations. These items are considered lab equipment and should not be opened or utilized in any way. Accessing these areas will result in: 1st offense: warning, 2nd offense: 30 minute detention, 3rd offense: 1 hour detention (parent contact in all cases), 4th offense: conference with parent, student, and administration. If the student is unable to work in a lab it may impact the ability of the student to pass the course.
__________ TEXTBOOK - I also understand the textbook will be online in pdf format and acknowledge my child needs a pdf reader on a regular basis. I also understand the readings are required and will be assessed. I realize this is vital for my child to pass the course.
________ CLASS EXPECTATIONS - Students are therefore expected to work, prepare, study, and achieve at a high level consistently throughout the year. Students will likely struggle if they have a lack of motivation or effort. The school’s late policy will be implemented. I have read and understand the policy in the student handbook.
